What is Good Journalism?

In class last week we talked about what, "Good Journalism," is. What does, " good journalism," mean to you? Does it mean a fun article that is pretty much irrelevant to everything happening in the world? Well, for me it is when the journalist includes relevant news, the truth, and when they include a solution for the issue that they are talking about. This means that journalist are truly trying to capture the essence of the issue at hand and they are covering it because they want to and not because they were told too.
Relevant news is when the news that is being covered is truly relevant to where you live or something that pertains to you. The reason why relevant news is important because you should watch the news to see what is happening around you, not in another state or place. Sometimes when I watch the news, especially in the summer, news channels will show the weather for Florida when we live in Louisville, Kentucky.
Including a solution to the issue being covered is pretty important. This is because it allows the citizens to possibly be able to help with the situation. Also, for me I enjoy when they include a solution because it helps me comprehend the issue fully.
The most important part of good journalism is telling the whole and complete truth. That is because if the journalist doesn't tell the truth then you won't actually know what happened and there would be no point to watching the news. Also, journalist cannot only cover some of the truth and then lie a little bit to make it more interesting, they need to include the WHOLE truth. For me it is satisfying when an important news organization covers the issue correctly.
All in all, good journalism can really depend on what you think.
