The History Newspapers

The history of Newspapers starts in 59 B.C., which is when the first newspaper was documented, Acta Diurna. As it gets closer to the present date many advancements are made in the newspaper, monthly, weekly, and even daily news. Something that I found extremely interesting was that a Swedish newspaper that was started in 1645 is still published to this date. Eventually there was about 715 newspaper being produced, then a little less than 5,000. Eventually the first photo was published. There was then a daily train delivery and the invention of radios, which decreased the amount of newspaper.
After all the history I was most interested in the whole John Peter Zenger case, he created a news organization that was very critical toward the Governor, so he went to jail for libel. His attorney, Andrew Hamilton, fought for him saying, " The truth is the ultimate defense against charges of libel." This statement basically means if the article is correct you should not have to go to jail for it. I was most interested in this part because I completely agree with Andrew, I feel that you are entitled to telling the truth if you know it, which is what he did. I stand with them because what Andrew said is so true.
Also, before learning about Radios and Newspapers I never knew that Radios were the reason for the decline in the newspaper industry. Now looking back it, it makes so much sense. More people could use it and learn about the news easier due to the fact that most people are illiterate, but they could listen to the news.
Another thing that I found quite interesting are the Muck-Ruckers. They were basically the watchdogs of journalism. They were the investigative journalist and I believe that we need some of them now. Now there is a lot of false journalism and there is no one to really check on them besides other journalist, but the Muck-Ruckers were dedicated to that specifically.
